My name is Stephen Ross. I am a writer, sometimes film maker, and sometimes musician. Or to put it another way: I'm a failed rock musician/film maker who turned to a life of crime (fiction). I'm a member of the Mystery Writers of America and the International Thriller Writers Organization, and my short stories and novelettes have appeared in the Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine, the Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine, the 2013 MWA anthology ("The Mystery Box"), and many other publications. I have been nominated for an Edgar Award (2011, Best Short Story), a Derringer Award (2011, Best Novelette), a Thriller Award (2015, Best Short Story), and I was a 2010 Ellery Queen Readers' Award Finalist. I have lived in Auckland, London, and Frankfurt, but I currently reside on the beautiful Whangaparaoa Peninsula of New Zealand.
I was the judge for the inaugural Prolitzer Prize; a short story competition run each year by Prole Magazine in the UK.
